Postcard from Mallorca

So, I’m back again.  I love it here!  Mallorca is the largest Balearic Island, and you’re always pretty close to water.  And what water it is!  Who can resist a swim in that beautiful turquoise sea?  I’m sure I was a fish in a previous life!  I’ve managed to go for a swim every day so far and it’s been wonderful. Snorkeling is great here too – it’s fabulous to view the different world that exists under the waves.  The many coves provide opportunities to view this fascinating underworld and, with such clear water, the viewing possibilities are endless.

We went to the local outdoor market yesterday in the beautiful town of Santanyi – always a pleasure.  The local produce is magnificent. It was very hot though, and guess what, that sea was calling me when I got back to base.  I had a good appetite after that and we went out to supper by the harbour.  Did I mention the seafood?

Tomorrow it’s a boat trip to Cabrera, the largest uninhabited island in the Mediterranean, with more beautiful beaches I’m told. I must remember to pack my swimsuit!  With over 300 days of sunshine a year, I’m sure I’ll be back to Mallorca again soon…
